Unified Pension Scheme: Employees' body wants minimum service period cut to 20 years

The central government employees' organisation requested enhancements to the Unified Pension Scheme, including reducing the service period to 20 years for a 50% pension. Other demands included a monthly emoluments contribution and additional pensions for those over 80 years. The Union cabinet approved the scheme, benefiting 2.3 million employees with an assured 50% pension after 25 years of service.
