India's fiscal deficit for April-February FY24 reached Rs 15.01 lakh crore, 86.5% of the annual target, compared to Rs 14.53 lakh crore in the same period the previous year. The government aims to narrow the deficit to 5.8% of GDP this year and 5.1% in the next. Total expenditure increased to Rs 37.47 lakh crore, while net tax revenues reached Rs 18.5 lakh crore.
