Vedanta Aluminium has increased its annual alumina refining capacity to 3.5 million tonnes at its Lanjigarh unit in Odisha, up from 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The company plans to further raise alumina refining capacity to 5 MTPA and increase aluminium production capacity to 3 MTPA from the current 2.37 MTPA. This expansion aims to enhance raw material security and reduce costs for the Jharsuguda and BALCO aluminium smelters, positioning the company for sustainable growth in the global aluminium market.
