U.S. officials, alarmed by the abrupt policy change, successfully persuaded India to roll it back. The incident highlighted U.S. concerns about India's unpredictable policy environment. India, however, maintains its policies are in the interest of all stakeholders and encourages foreign investment. The reversal followed a meeting between U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai and Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
