Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the next spectrum auction will be a limited auction, smaller than the previous round. This is because a large part of the required spectrum was already auctioned last year. The government is working on a proposal to auction smaller chunks of spectrum that were left out. Telcos have sufficient spectrum from past auctions, so the demand will mainly be for renewing radiowaves in select circles.
