India has significantly reduced its oil and gas subsidies by 85% since 2013, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. This strategic move, which involved phasing out petrol and diesel subsidies and increasing taxes, has freed up funds for renewable energy projects, electric vehicles, and critical electricity infrastructure.
