The central government plans to auction up to 20 critical mineral blocks for deeper exploration under a new license regime to improve the tepid response from states. Amendments to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act empower the Centre to conduct these auctions and offer reimbursement incentives to private players.
