India's top telecom companies have informed the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) that they cannot implement the new mandate on whitelisting URLs in commercial messages. They developed a solution for short URLs but found it impractical to meet additional requirements for final destination URLs. Trai extended the deadline to October 1.
