The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 met with representatives from Gujarat and other entities to discuss the proposed legislation. Gujarat's minister of state for home, Harsh Sanghavi, presented suggestions, while Congress MLA Imran Khedawala opposed the amendments. The bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 8 and referred to a JPC.
