Jawhar Sircar has resigned from his Rajya Sabha membership after criticizing the TMC government in West Bengal for its handling of the Kolkata rape-murder incident. His resignation was accepted by Rajya Sabha chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar. Sircar had also announced his decision to quit politics altogether, leaving the Trinamool Congress with 12 members in the upper house.
