A Commission of Inquiry, established on June 4, 2023, to investigate the violence, has yet to submit its report and has been granted an extension until November 24, 2024. The violence between the Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups has resulted in over 220 deaths and thousands displaced since May last year.
