Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has highlighted the low conviction rate of 26 percent for rape cases in India and called for the implementation of a stringent "anti-rape law" that mandates trials and convictions to be completed within 50 days. His demand comes in the wake of increasing incidents of rapes and atrocities against women, as documented in the last 15 days.
