BJP president J P Nadda criticised the Kolkata police for their alleged highhandedness in handling protesters against the rape-murder of a trainee doctor. He accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's administration of protecting wrongdoers instead of ensuring women's safety, following the use of lathi-charges, water cannons, and tear gas against demonstrators.
