West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused BJP and CPI-M of vandalizing RG Kar Medical College, resulting in significant infrastructure damage. Banerjee led a protest demanding justice for the medical student who was raped and murdered. Concurrently, BJP organized protests statewide but faced police intervention. Twenty-five arrests have been made in connection to the vandalism.
