The Election Commission postponed the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections due to the inclusion of the Jammu and Kashmir poll and floods hindering electoral activities in Maharashtra. The new Maharashtra assembly must be established by November 2024. Ongoing security issues in J&K also influenced the decision.
