The Election Commission (EC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have reached a consensus on holding assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir soon, despite ongoing security concerns. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and his team met with Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla to address security implications. While past concerns led to delays, this time the MHA supports moving forward with elections. Enhanced security measures will be implemented, including increased deployment of paramilitary forces. The EC will meticulously plan the electoral process before announcing poll dates.
