The ruling BJP in Assam will field candidates for two Rajya Sabha seats in the upcoming Gambegre bypoll. The seats were vacant following the election of Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat. The bye-poll will be held in five assembly constituencies, with BJP likely to contest three seats and one each for its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL).
