In August 2022, Alaska's Lemon Creek Correctional Center encountered severe issues due to heavy rains that caused the ground to give way. Now, $9.5 million is being allocated to repair this facility. Climate activists suggest decarceration and investing in climate resiliency instead of expanding and repairing ageing prison infrastructure.
