Kumaraswamy will be part of 'padyatra' against Karnataka govt on August 3: BJP

By Economic Times - 4 months ago
The BJP on Thursday managed to convince its coalition partner, Janata Dal (Secular), to join its foot march ('padyatra') against the alleged MUDA scam in Karnataka. Initially, JD(S) withdrew from the protest due to BJP leader Preetham Gowda's involvement, linked to a scandal involving JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy's nephew. BJP officials held discussions with Kumaraswamy, ensuring his participation. Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra stated that the march from Bengaluru to Mysuru will highlight corruption under the Congress government, including a MUDA scam worth over Rs 4,000 crore. This 'padyatra' will see participation from NDA MPs and MLAs in the state, reinforcing the unity of the ruling coalition.
