ADR writes to EC, ask reason behind alleged discrepancy in votes polled and counted in LS polls

By Economic Times - 4 months ago
The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has formally addressed the Election Commission of India (ECI), raising concerns about discrepancies between the number of votes polled and votes counted in the recent Lok Sabha elections. ADR's analysis revealed a shortfall of 554,598 votes in 362 constituencies and an excess of 35,093 votes in 176 constituencies. They are demanding explanations from Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and other commissioners. The ADR also referenced a 2019 Supreme Court petition seeking better reconciliation processes, criticizing the lack of substantial action since then. They urge immediate corrective measures to maintain electoral integrity.
