The Samajwadi Party made Mata Prasad Pandey the leader of opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, replacing Akhilesh Yadav, who resigned his MLA post upon being elected to the Lok Sabha. Additionally, Kamaal Akhtar and Rakesh Kumar were appointed as chief whip and deputy whip respectively. Pandey brings significant experience, having served as UP Assembly speaker twice.
