Former Transport Minister M R Vijayabhaskar of the AIADMK was arrested by CBCID in Kerala on Tuesday over allegations of land grabbing worth Rs 100 crore. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami condemned the arrest, calling it a 'civil' dispute driven by 'political vendetta'. Police allege Vijayabhaskar forged documents to seize 22 acres of land. His arrest followed complaints from a Karur businessman and a sub-registrar, and a rejected anticipatory bail petition. CBCID recently conducted searches at properties linked to Vijayabhaskar in Chennai and Karur.
