Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP P. Chidambaram has emphasized the importance of opposition parties being prepared for elections in a parliamentary democracy. This comes after Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief Lalu Yadav suggested that the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government could fall by August, leading to elections at any time.
