Union minister and BJP ally Chirag Paswan criticised Congress for using the "Dalit card" in the Lok Sabha speaker election, alleging the opposition's tactic of fielding Dalit leaders when defeat is certain. He gave instances from previous VP and presidential votes. Paswan questioned if Dalit leaders are merely symbolic choices for the opposition after the nomination of K Suresh against NDA's Om Birla.
