President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Bhartruhari Mahtab as the Speaker Protem under Article 95(1) of the Constitution. Mahtab will fulfill the responsibilities of the Speaker until the election of a new Speaker. Additionally, the President has designated Suresh Kodikunnil, Thalikkottai Rajuthevar Baalu, Radha Mohan Singh, Faggan Singh Kulaste, and Sudip Bandyopadhyay to assist the Speaker Protem in administering the Oath/Affirmation to newly elected Members of the 18th Lok Sabha until a new Speaker is elected, informed Rijiju.
