Gyorgy Ligeti's Lux Aeterna

By Economic Times - 5 months ago
Gyorgy Ligeti's 'Lux Aeterna' is a haunting choral composition for 16 solo singers, created in 1966. It uses micropolyphony, a technique he pioneered, to create a shimmering cloud of sound. The piece, which was featured in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey, evokes a sense of the infinite and invites introspection.
