On December 11, 2023, the Supreme Court had directed the Election Commission of India to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30, 2024. Commenting on the relatively high polling percentage in the Kashmir valley in the Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah said he believed that there has been a big change in attitudes there.
