The Congress has fielded former president of JNU Students' Union, Kanhaiya Kumar, who became known for the controversy over raising of anti-national slogans on the JNU campus in 2016. He is challenging a formidable incumbent, BJP's Manoj Tiwari, a famous Bhojpuri singer and actor who is known for his hugely popular song 'Rinkiya ke papa'.
