Expelled Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Ravikaran Singh Kahlon joined the BJP in Punjab after being expelled by Sukhbir Singh Badal. Kahlon was welcomed by Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar and party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Kahlon is the son of ex-Punjab Assembly speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon. He unsuccessfully contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls from Dera Baba Nanak.
