'Security situation comfortable in J&K; We want polls to be held': Rajnath Singh

By Economic Times - 7 months ago
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has stated that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir is conducive to holding elections, but the final decision rests with the Election Commission. He mentioned that cross-border terrorism has reduced, making Pakistan a non-issue in the elections. Singh reiterated India's unchanged approach to the China border and its commitment to good relations with all neighbors. He dismissed the idea of abolishing the Agniveer scheme, despite Congress pledging to do so, emphasizing that national security issues should not be politicized.
