69.56 per cent voter turnout recorded in Karnataka's first phase of polling

By Economic Times - 3 weeks ago
Karnataka saw a 69.56% voter turnout in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, with Mandya recording the highest at 81.67%. The election was mostly peaceful, except for an incident in Chamarajanagar where EVMs were destroyed during a clash. Repolling will be held in Hanur on April 29. The Congress and BJP-JD(S) combine had a straight fight in this phase, unlike the triangular contest in last year's Assembly elections. The second phase for the remaining 14 constituencies is scheduled for May 7.
