Christopher Wren, an English architect, observed three bricklayers working on St Paul's Cathedral. The first bricklayer was disinterested, the second was better, and the third was diligent. Wren asked them their professions, and they all had the same job and wages. The third had a calling, which meant passion for doing the work well.
