Convenor of PVM Upamanyu Hazarika said that for a State, which is on its way to becoming a Bangladeshi origin majority State between 2040 to 2051 (three studies), NRC represented the last hope of the indigenous people, sifting citizen from non-citizen and also being a data base for legal safeguards for those who were citizens in 1951.
