In the 2022 by-poll, the BJP snatched this seat from the SP. The BSP had fielded Guddu Jamali from the seat, taking away sizable Muslim votes. This time, Jamali is with the SP. By fielding a Rajbhar candidate, the BSP is seeking to take away a portion of Rajbhar votes which are currently with the BJP. OP Rajbhar's SBSP is now part of the NDA.
