In Cuddalore, two roadside astrologers were arrested for keeping caged parakeets used for fortune telling, despite predicting the PMK candidate's election victory. The astrologers were released and their birds were freed by forest officials. Parakeet fortune telling is a common practice in Tamil Nadu, drawing criticism from PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss for the arrest.
