The Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala have rejected electoral support from the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political arm of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). This decision came after criticism from the BJP and the Left for allegedly seeking support from a party linked to communalism. VD Satheesan, leader of the opposition in Kerala, stated that the Congress and the UDF oppose communalism from any community and will not accept support from such organizations.
