Congress-BJP in Karnataka trade charges over 'slap those chanting Modi-Modi' remark

By Economic Times - 8 months ago
In a heated exchange, the BJP and Congress clashed over remarks made by Karnataka's Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi. Tangadagi, addressing Congress workers, criticized BJP leaders for failing to fulfill promises like creating two crore jobs annually, suggesting that those chanting 'Modi Modi' should be slapped. The BJP condemned Tangadagi's comments as uncultured, with senior leader C T Ravi calling it sacrilege to assign him the Culture portfolio. Tangadagi defended himself, claiming his words were misinterpreted, while Union Minister Pralhad Joshi threatened legal action against him.
