The Indian government has informed Congress floor leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, that a search committee meeting will be convened soon to fill the vacancy arising from the resignation of election commissioner Arun Goel and appoint the second election commissioner. The post of second election commissioner fell vacant on February 15 when Anup Pandey retired.
