Arabinda Dhali, the sitting MLA of Jayadev Assembly seat in Odisha, resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and announced his decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha. Dhali, a five-term MLA, cited discomfort in the BJD and expressed admiration for Prime Minister Modi's work as reasons for his switch. He had previously been associated with the BJP and had also served as a minister in the BJD-BJP alliance government.
