The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday as a witness in an old illegal mining case in Hamirpur district. The case involves alleged violations in the issuance of mining leases during 2012-16, when Yadav was chief minister. The investigation focuses on the alleged allowance of illegal mining, renewal of licenses, and extortion of money.
