In a surprising turn of events, senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi lost the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh to BJP's Harsh Mahajan. Cross-voting by six Congress MLAs led to a tie. Singhvi won the draw of lots but lost due to an Election Commission norm. Singhvi accused his party members of backstabbing. The BJP now considers moving a no-confidence motion against the 14-month-old Congress government.
