By Economic Times - 9 months ago
The Karnataka Congress government will compensate the family of a man killed by an elephant in Wayanad. This move comes ahead of Lok Sabha elections and aims to address increasing man-animal conflicts. The ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala is a Congress ally for the elections, but a rival at the regional level. Rahul Gandhi broke away from his scheduled Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as a part of his LS polls campaign to visit the victim's family on Saturday, had asked the Karnataka government to compensate the family on humanitarian grounds.
