Parisians have voted to impose special parking fees on SUVs, the go-to motor vehicle for the wealthy, in an effort to cut down air pollution and mitigate climatic damage. The decision was made by 54.6% of voters, who believe that SUVs should pay three times the parking fee of standard cars. Some critics, such as lobby group 40 Millions d'Automobilistes, argue that this is the work of an 'ultra-urban and anti-car minority'.
