Dynasty politics: Party needed well-educated, young face, says Shinde on son's LS ticket

By Economic Times - 10 months ago
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde responded to Shiv Sena head Uddhav Thackeray's criticism of dynastic politics. Shinde defended his son Shrikant Shinde's candidature, citing the party's need for a young and educated candidate. He claimed that Thackeray's chief ministership had set Maharashtra back by over 10 years, leading to the toppling of his government. Shinde dismissed Thackeray's allegations, stating that he criticizes institutions when decisions go against him. Notably, Thackeray himself belongs to a political family, with his father Bal Thackeray being the founder of Shiv Sena and his son Aaditya serving as a minister in the previous state government.
