MANILA, Philippines — With no storm in sight, the country would likely experience the effects of the northeast monsoon or "amihan" starting Wednesday, the state-run weather agency said on Tuesday.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said this weather system was currently affecting Batanes, Cagayan and Apayao.
"But in the coming days starting Wednesday, amihan will affect most parts of the country, including the National Capital Region," the Pagasa forecaster said.
In the meantime, the state weather bureau said the inter-tropical convergence zone - the imaginary line where the air from the northern and southern hemispheres meets - has been affecting Mindanao where cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would be likely.
Also, the localized thunderstorms have been bringing isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country over the next 24 hours, it added.
