MANILA, Philippines — Korean actor Song Jae-rim, known for the 2012 drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun," was found dead in his apartment in South Korea. He was 39.

As reported by Korean pop culture site Soompi, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul confirmed on November 12 that they found the body of the actor with a two-page letter.

The cause of death has not been confirmed as of posting time but the police said, still according to Soompi, "there are no signs of foul play."

In a separate report by Maeil Business Newspaper, still citing the Seongdong Police Station, the body was found at around 12:30 p.m. that day when an acquaintance, who had a lunch appointment with the actor, arrived at his home.

Prior to his death, Song had been busy promoting his latest works, TV series "My Military Valentine" and the web series, "Queen Woo."

Song's official Instagram account, @jaelim_song, has not been updated for at least 10 months, when he last posted a series of mirror selfies, but followers claim that he only recently changed his bio to "긴 여행 시작" which translates to "Long journey begins."

Colleagues took to social media to pay their respects to Song.

Actor Park Ho-san shared his photos with Song and wrote, "You were always so bright... I can't believe it... I'm sorry for not staying in touch, for not being there. I'm truly sorry."

Actor and Korean personality Hong Seok-cheon, who's reported to be a close friend of Song, also took to Instagram to post, "I'm heartbroken that I'll never see your wonderful smile again... It's devastating to have to let you go without even a proper farewell, without having been there for you more... I'm so, so sorry... I was a terrible older brother to you. Rest in peace..."

Born in 1985, Song made his acting debut in the 2009 film "Actresses" which was followed by several films and shows. Some of his other notable works include

"Hot Ramen," "Two Weeks" and "Unkind Ladies." Fans also remember him for appearing in the reality show "We Got Married" — which paired up celebrities who assumed the roles of married couples and completed challenges — where he was paired with actress Kim So-eun.

Song's family said in a statement to Yonhap News Agency that a small funeral in Seoul will be held for family members. Other agencies reported that he would be laid to rest on November 14.
