MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area that entered the Philippines on Saturday has intensified into a tropical depression which will be called "Nika," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The new storm comes after Typhoon "Marce" (international name: Yinxing) left the country on Friday afternoon but not before wreaking havoc in Northern Luzon, particularly in Cagayan, and affecting 20,000 people, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Before Marce was Super Typhoon Julian (Krathon), Severe Tropical Storm "Kristine" (Trami) and Super Typhoon "Leon" (Kong-rey) – all of which devastated Luzon.
