CAGAYAN de Oro Amateur Boxing Team made a stellar international debut, bagging eight medals in the 2024 International School Sport Federation Gymnasiade held in Manama, Bahrain.

The team racked up one gold, four silver and three bronze medals.

Christian Jake Pores took home the sole gold for the squad in the Youth Men's 48 kilograms (kg) against Saudi Arabia's bet.

"I did not expect to win, I just did my strategy, and did whatever I could to take home the medal," said Pores.

Coach Elmer Pamisa praised his team's performance.

"I am really grateful since this is the first time that my boxers competed internationally, and Christian Jake was the only one who had experience playing in the nationals. All the boxers that competed have no experience yet in the national games, I am really grateful," Pamisa said.

Shairylle Pores (46 kg), Ever Joy Nuez (48 kg), John Michael Estorba (52 kg) and Joel Rosas Jr. (54 kg) captured one silver each, while Ivan Llaban (46 kg), Sherwin Villanueva (51 kg) and Argie Reyes (57 kg) got one bronze apiece.
