By Manila Times - 4 weeks ago

(UPDATE) EIGHT-TIME PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo holds the No. 1 spot for the Season 49 Governors' Cup Best Player at the close of the semifinals.

The pride of Pinamungahan, Cebu leads the BPC stats race after amassing 44.8 statistical points after the Final Four.

The 34-year-old San Miguel star center remains superb after compiling MVP-like numbers of 21.0 points, along with a league-best 16.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.0 blocks in 21 games this conference.

Undoubtedly, Fajardo's PBA record 10 BPC awards are hard to break, but then, his consistent showing this conference makes him a cinch at cornering an 11th individual plum despite the fact that SMB is already out of the championship running.

The Beermen succumbed to the rampaging Barangay Ginebra Kings in their semifinals series, 4-2.

Meanwhile, NorthPort's sweet-shooting forward Arvin Tolentino is at No. 2 spot for the BPC race with 37.5 SPs on the strength of his per-game averages of 23.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

NLEX's crack guard Robert Bolick ranks third with 35.9 SPs, having led the tournament in assists with an 8.2 per game average, along with his 19.1 points and 6.2 rebounds norm.

In the race for the Best Import, TNT's Rondae Hollis-Jefferson holds a decent stats race lead over Barangay Ginebra's resident reinforcement Justin Brownlee.

The 29-year-old Hollis-Jefferson is gunning for his second Best Import plum after capturing his first award during the 2023 Governors' Cup where he led the Tropang Giga in dethroning the Gin Kings, 4-2 in the Finals.

Hollis-Jefferson compiled 57.4 SPs built around do-it-all stats line of 28.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists, while leading the tournament in the steals and block shot departments with 2.9 and 1.9, respectively.

The 36-year-old Brownlee, a three-time winner of the Best Import since he first came into the league in 2016, is at second with 50.9 SPs, thanks to his all-around per-game averages of 28.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 block shots.
