Go brings aid to Negros Occidental

By Manila Times - 4 weeks ago

SEN. Bong Go renewed his call on the government to bring basic medical services closer to communities as he inspected a new Super Health Center (SHC) site in Negros Occidental.

The senator also helped poor residents when he visited Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental on Saturday.

"A lot of people thanked me because they received help from the programs that I initiated. But please don't thank me. I should be the one who should thank you because you gave me the chance to be of service to you," Go said in Filipino.

He said health facilities such as SHCs which he initiated to further improve health care access in remote areas is part of his commitment to public health.

He said the SHCs help decongest hospitals and make primary healthcare services readily available in underserved communities.

These health centers will play a role in early disease detection, medical consultation, and will provide primary care, thereby strengthening community-based healthcare services.

Go expressed his gratitude to the local government for their collaboration in turning the project into reality.

He distributed aid to 937 indigents. The beneficiaries received essential support packages, including food packs, snacks, vitamins, masks, shirts, as well as sports items such as basketballs and volleyballs.

Some of them were given shoes, mobile phones, bicycles, and watches.

Go also visited La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Saturday and extended support to 930 families affected by the recent Mount Kanlaon ash fall.

He assured those affected by the ash fall that they would receive immediate aid.

Go provided grocery packs, meals, vitamins, masks and shirts to the beneficiaries. There were also select recipients of basketballs, volleyballs, shoes, mobile phones, bicycles and a watch.
